Frequently Asked Questions
What is FlyerScene?
FlyerScene is a searchable archive of underground music flyers - rave, punk, DIY, warehouse, techno, hardcore, metal, hip-hop, and more. Search your band or DJ name and find every flyer you ever appeared on.
How does the search work?
We use AI (Claude Vision) to read every flyer and extract band names, venue names, dates, cities, genres, and prices. This means you can search by artist name, venue, city, genre, or decade - and find flyers that match.
Can I upload flyers?
Yes. Drag and drop your flyers on the Upload page. We accept JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP (max 20MB each). After upload, our AI automatically extracts the text and metadata. A free account (one-time email link or passkey) is required to upload, comment, or post venue stories. Browsing and searching the archive stay open to everyone with no account needed.
Where do the flyers come from?
Our initial collection was scraped from Archive.org's rave and punk flyer archives (with attribution). Community uploads grow the collection daily. We also accept submissions from promoters, venues, and scene historians.
Can I submit venue stories?
Yes. On any venue page, you can add a memory - your story about what the place was like, who played there, what happened. These crowd-sourced stories help preserve underground music history.
Is it free?
Yes. FlyerScene is free to search, browse, and upload, and the archive will always be free to access. The site is supported by donations, Patreon, and affiliate links to ticketing and music partners.
Do you sell prints of the flyers?
Not right now. Reprint sales are paused while we build an opt-in license registry so original designers and promoters get paid for their work. If you designed flyers and would like your work licensed for prints, email mike@flyerscene.com.
How do you keep illegal content off the site?
Every upload is automatically scanned for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using Microsoft PhotoDNA before it reaches public storage; the same scan was applied to the historical archive in May 2026. We compute the perceptual hash for each image locally and only the hash is shared with Microsoft for matching, never the raw image. Any positive match is hard-deleted and reported to NCMEC's CyberTipline as required by law (StanHattie LLC is a registered Electronic Service Provider). We also run an AI policy classifier on every upload to catch other illegal or rule-breaking content. Suspected CSAM elsewhere on the site can be reported to abuse@stanhattie.com; that mailbox is monitored.
How do I get a flyer removed?
If you own the copyright to a flyer and want it removed, email leads@stanhattie.com with the flyer URL and proof of ownership. See our DMCA Policy.
